About the Journal
Journal of Geriatric and Age-Friendly Communities (JGAFC) is a peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary journal dedicated to advancing knowledge on geriatric health and the development of age-friendly communities. The journal publishes original research, reviews, and case studies that explore clinical geriatrics, community-based care, healthy aging, social participation, policy, technology, and culturally sensitive approaches to older adults' well-being. JGAFC welcomes contributions from health sciences, social sciences, urban planning, technology, and public policy that promote dignified, healthy, and inclusive aging. The journal is published biannually, with issues released in July and December.
JGAFC operates a double-blind peer review process, in which both author and reviewer identities are concealed to ensure impartial evaluation. All submissions are initially assessed by the editorial team for scope fit and quality before being sent to at least two independent expert reviewers. The journal follows an open access publishing model, providing immediate free access to all published content to maximize reach and impact. Authors retain copyright of their work, and articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license unless otherwise stated.
JGAFC is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics in accordance with COPE guidelines. The journal maintains clear policies on authorship, conflicts of interest, research misconduct, data sharing, and corrections/retractions. Submissions must include a statement of ethics approval for studies involving human subjects, and authors are required to disclose any competing interests. The journal also expects authors to follow the CRediT taxonomy for defining individual contributions.
